The Federal Government’s Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) subsidises prescription medicines so that essential drugs are affordable and available at over 5000 pharmacies across Australia.

Pharmacists know that Australians need affordable medicines and have supported the Government as it has reduced medicine costs.

We also need viable local pharmacy businesses so that you can get your medicines when and where you need them.

The Facts…

  1. Pharmacies are paid for their professional dispensing services.
  2. Recent Government changes have drastically reduced the amount of money pharmacies receive to provide these services.
  3. As a result, pharmacies will have little choice but to reduce services and opening hours, and may even have to close.
  4. Pharmacies and their staff were not consulted.
  5. Local jobs are at risk. Services to YOU are at risk.
